After day 1 of delivering meals, we have discovered we need to change a few things to help with safety of both our staff and our patrons. In order to avoid dogs and from having to touch door knobs or Gates, we ask that you meet us at the vehicle when we pull up. We will honk and our vehicle will be a marked Stuart School vehicle. It will either be a four-door Ford pick up that says Stuart FFA on the door or it will be a light brown Ford Crown Victoria car with driver's ed signs on the front and sides. Thank you for helping us make meal delivery as safe as possible for everyone involved.

FFA members, parents, and FFA supporters: This came from the State FFA Executive Secretary The Governor issued an Executive Order 2020-08 declaring an emergency caused by the impending threat of COVID-19 to the people of this State and the public’s peace, health, and safety. To ensure we are being proactive to address this impending threat, tough decisions are having to be made everywhere, and the same goes for us in the FFA world. No easy way to break the news. So, let’s just get to it: State FFA Interscholastics for all non-national qualifying CDE/LDE events for 2020 will be canceled. This includes the following: • Agricultural Education • Animal Science Quiz Bowl • Electricity • Entomology • Freshman Agriscience Quiz Bowl • Homesite Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Land Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Soil and Water Conservation • Rangeland Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Turfgrass Management The rest of the contests are postponed and will remain pending. This includes all region, area and state public speaking, parliamentary procedure, agriscience fair, and star contests. None of these events will happen in-person until after the Center for Disease Control guidelines allow. We are evaluating the ability to conduct these virtually, where applicable. More details to follow. Now on to convention. In accordance with the CDC guidelines the determination has been made to cancel the annual state FFA convention on the original dates of April 28-29. We are currently in the process of looking into the possibility of a pared-down event at the Cox Convention Center or another venue in late May or early June. Obviously, many variables will go into making the decision on whether that happens. If we are unable to hold an event in the summer, we will elect state officers digitally and pass out awards at agricultural instructors’ area meetings. Planning a convention of this size and scope requires a lot of planning with hotels, presenters, and staff. Many who require deposits well in advance. In the event of a complete cancelation, we will refund when and where we can. We will start with reimbursing all Expo Booth exhibitors immediately. The State Board of Education voted March 16 for all accredited public schools to cease operations to include all instructional services, grading and extracurricular activities, staff development, trainings or conferences, but essential clerical and administrative activities such as business management, nutrition services, maintenance may continue. Please be sure that during this time that your chapter is neither hosting nor attending an extracurricular event unless approved by your local administration. This is a difficult letter to write. I am devastated for the state officer team and FFA members across the state, who I know have put in months of preparation and intense work. But the safety and security of students, educators and staff is a top priority. Difficult times for all. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. Keep your heads up, and press on.

As per state board of education, we will have no meeting of teachers of any kind until April 6th. For the next 10 school days, you cannot gather for professional development, staff meetings, Etc. All administrators, secretaries, custodians, building and grounds maintenance, and kitchen staff will meet Monday morning at 8:30 am. We will review our survey numbers to determine what lunches we will provide for students, clean the building and grounds, and discuss our plan of action regarding work hours.

Good afternoon. After watching the press conference with Governor Stitt yesterday and sitting in a webinar with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction today, it is suggested that we do not cancel school unless the Coronavirus spreads through community transmission. Community transmission is defined as "two people in areas of 800,000 have coronavirus that are not connected to travel or through personal contact with a known case." (This is roughly the population of Tulsa.) Please look at our website or at the CDC website and follow the guidelines for travel. It will tell who must self quarantine upon return and places where travel is restricted. If you plan on traveling outside our state or country on spring break, please look at those guidelines carefully. It is still determined that keeping your hands clean, maintaining social distance from others, and the cleaning surfaces with disinfectant are the best ways to prevent the spread of this virus. Thank you for your time and I hope you all have a wonderful spring break!

A little after 1pm today, Governor Stitt, State Superintendent Hoffmeister, the head of the Ok Health Department and a Dr. from the medical Board gave a press conference. You can see it by typing the following in your web browser. rdm.me/MgxoZsf68l They said to continue school and continue working, just use normal precautions such as keeping 6 ft away from others, washing hands regularly, drinking plenty of water and covering sneezes and coughs. You should refrain from shaking hands and other close personal contact. Again, we are upping our efforts to sanitize water fountains, door knobs, restrooms, computers and desks. If your child has a fever, we ask that you keep them home as you would with any other virus. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

It is always our goal to provide a safe and healthy environment at school. With the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 "Coronovirus" outbreak a pandemic, Stuart Schools will be increasing our efforts at sanitizing our building and keeping you informed of best practices for prevention of not only the Coronavirus, but also viruses that can be transmitted through personal contact. We do not believe that people should live their lives in fear, but we do believe we should be prepared in the event the worse happens. To protect our students, community, patrons , and our staff, we ask that anyone with flu-like symptoms stay home. We will work with students on absences and have their work ready to make up if they are sick. On our website is the current information ( current at time of print as it changes daily) regarding travel, self-quarantine, and general precautions to take in the event you have been exposed or become exposed. Travel restrictions have been handed down from the White House and the CDC has a list of countries that require self-quarantine if you have been there, Please look at these resources as we have posted them in our DOCUMENTS on our site and we will try to keep you informed on the status of this Pandemic as it relates to our school.

Our Boys Basketball Team qualified for the State Tournament in Oklahoma City! They will play Thursday night at 8:30pm at the State Fair Arena. When they win, they will play at 1:30 pm Friday at the State Fair Arena. Therefore, we will dismiss school on Friday, March 6. We will be in school on Thursday since they play late that night. We hope you can all come out to cheer our Hornets to Victory! If you are interested in purchasing a State Playoff T-shirt, either call the school to order with a credit card, or come by to pay with cash before 9am in the morning as we must order by that time to get the shirts in by Thursday morning. GO HORNETS!
