Due to a positive COVID-19 test on a 4th grade student, we will have to quarantine our 4th grade class and our 3rd grade girls as they would have been in close contact during PE. There is no issue with any others as this student doesn't ride a bus and no one else would have been exposed. Also, if your 3rd grade girl or 4th grade student has siblings, please keep a close eye on them and if they have any symptoms, please keep them home and let us know in the office. Lessons for the next 2 weeks for the quarantined students will be online. All facilities have been sanitized.

We have good news! As you may have heard, Oklahoma was recently approved to operate the Pandemic Electronic Benefits Transfer (P-EBT) program. P-EBT replaces lost free or reduced-price school meal benefits due to school closures this spring. Families who were certified for free or reduced-price lunch and families in schools or districts that provided no-cost meals to all students will receive $250 in benefits per eligible child. Though families are not required to apply to receive P-EBT, outreach efforts are vitally important to ensure Oklahoma families are aware of this new program. Families will receive benefits one of two ways: SNAP and other current EBT households will have benefits automatically loaded onto their existing EBT card; or Non-SNAP/EBT households will receive a new EBT card automatically mailed to their home address. The envelope may not clearly indicate the contents. We created a web page (www.hungerfreeok.org/pebt) to serve as a point for information on this program. The page includes an overview of the program, frequently asked questions, and sample outreach text in English, Spanish, Burmese, and Zomi for your organization to use to help spread the word. Here are some links to the flyers: https://5il.co/kzae https://5il.co/kzaf https://5il.co/kzag

Good morning! Please start watching your mail for an EBT food card that the state of Oklahoma has granted to each child at Stuart school, since we feed all children for free. In the past, only children who qualified for free or reduced meals qualified for this benefit. We received the information this morning and are putting it on our school website and Facebook page. The card will probably come mailed in your child's name and be in a plain looking envelope. There are instructions included that will tell you how to activate the card. If you do not receive one for each child, use the information on the website to contact the state. Hope you have a blessed day!

Stuart public schools had an employee test positive for covid-19 today. This employee was at physicals Monday and at Enrollment Tuesday evening. We are canceling enrollment for this evening and tomorrow, as well as all athletic events for the remainder of this week, with next week's activities to be determined at a later time. The possibility of students being infected was very minimal as they did not spend enough time nor were they in close contact with the person. We are simply letting everyone know and taking precautions to make sure we keep our school family safe and healthy. It is in everyone's best interest to take temperature checks daily and monitor yourselves and your children for any other symptoms.

We know that this is a challenging time for students—staying home from school away from friends is a significant change in their routine that can make them feel disconnected. Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma is fortunate to be able to continue offering the same quality programming to girls, volunteers, and families virtually for at-home enrichment experiences. I invite students to stay connected with our new "Girl Scouts at Home" catalog at gseok.org/athome! We have added virtual badge activities, programs, and resources for girls and families to engage with from home. These are all available to the public for free—no Girl Scout membership necessary. At Girl Scouts, girls grow their academic success, develop new talents, and explore their passions. By promoting skills like critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration, Girl Scouts sets girls up for powerful futures. Partnering with Girl Scouts of Eastern Oklahoma means providing a high quality, girl-centered, and girl-led experience for tomorrow’s leaders and change-makers right at your very own school. Distance Learning Letter 4-3-2020 Dear Stuart Parents, Guardians, and Students,                  Stuart School wants to thank all of you for being patient during the past couple of weeks while we were receiving the expectations, recommendations, and guidelines from the Oklahoma State Department of Education regarding the construction of our district’s Distance Learning Plan.             The goals of our Distance Learning Plan are (1.)To provide our families with materials that will review pertinent material covered throughout the year and to allow students to cover additional material that would have been covered in their traditional classroom if we were to have been able to remain in school the rest of the academic year. (2.) Allow our students to either maintain the grade they had in each of their classes at the end of the 3rd 9 weeks grading period, or possibly raise their grade by successfully completing sufficient work during the last few weeks of the school year.         Students will either work online or will be given paper and pencil assignments to meet the criteria of our district’s Distance Learning Plan. Online students will need to utilize the following web resources to cover the suggested material for their classes: www.studyisland.com    HS students should log in with their Stuart school username and password. Elementary students can have their parents create a FREE account for them by using the link provided on our school app. *you may contact Stuart school if you need your child’s login information.         www.ixl.com Both Elementary and HS students can login using their Stuart school username and password to access their grade level courses *you may contact Stuart school if you need your child’s login information. www.abcmouse.com Elementary students in grades Pre-K through 8 can have their parents create a FREE account for them by using the link provided on our school app. ***Be sure to check our school website for specific assignments in study island & ixl from Mr. Homer, Mrs. Clark, & other teachers. Recommended work schedule for students completing online studies:   Students are expected to complete 3 topics/Lessons of 20 questions minimum in each of their core subject areas (Ex. Math, Reading/ELA, Science, Social Studies) weekly for a minimum of 60 questions per subject per week on their school Study Island or IXL accounts. Recommended work schedule for students completing paper and pencil work: Students are expected to complete a minimum of 3-4 worksheets/assignments/bookwork in each of their core subject areas (Ex. Math, Reading/ELA, Science, Social Studies) weekly for a minimum of 60 questions per subject per week. Some worksheets may not have 20 questions so just strive for the 60 questions per subject per week.) . Students will be given a manila folder to return completed work/assignments.  Do not return any books or unused portions of workbooks.  Just return the completed assignments.  Any additional materials can be used during the summer to work with your children or they can be thrown away as the books are being cycled out this school year. Online work and Paper/Pencil assignments are due on May 12th. We understand this is a trying and stressful time and parents, now, more than ever, we need your help.  Please be involved in your child’s lessons.  Please reach out to our teachers for help.  All teachers will be available for parents & students to contact regarding questions associated with their assignments.  We know online and over-the-phone help is not the same as sitting face to face with a teacher, but we must do the best we can and make the most out of the situation we are in.  Please contact Stuart school if you do not have a contact number for your child’s teacher.  Together we are stronger and we know that we will persevere!

The Internet Archive website https://archive.org/ has over 20 million of downloadable books and texts available for free. There is also a collection of over a million modern e-books that can be borrowed by anyone with a free archive.org account. You can create an account at https://archive.org/account/login and borrow a book for 14 days. You may read the books online in your browser or download them into Adobe Digital Editions, which is a software program used for reading e-books on a variety of different devices. For more information, go to the FAQ page that is available at https://help.archive.org/hc/en-us.

Beginning this Friday, April 3rd, grades pre-k through four, along with students for all other grades who do not have connectivity to the internet or a device to do online work will need to pick up student work from 8 a.m. until 2 pm. We ask that you drive up and we will bring out their work. Please stay in your vehicles and stay in line. We are allowing no entrance into the school to protect our cafeteria staff who are providing meals for students. We are only giving work at this time. Upon the CDC giving the all clear, we will choose a date this summer for people to come get their child's belongings from their classroom or locker and we will schedule prom and graduation ceremonies at that time. Thank you for your cooperation and all of your prayers!

By the end of next week, Stuart school will be contacting parents to schedule times to come pick up items from students lockers. Any students who do not have connectivity will also have packaged work that parents can pick up at that time. Please do not bring students with you when you come to pick these items up. Again, these times will be scheduled as we cannot have numerous people at the school. Thank you for your help and prayers during this time.

After day 1 of delivering meals, we have discovered we need to change a few things to help with safety of both our staff and our patrons. In order to avoid dogs and from having to touch door knobs or Gates, we ask that you meet us at the vehicle when we pull up. We will honk and our vehicle will be a marked Stuart School vehicle. It will either be a four-door Ford pick up that says Stuart FFA on the door or it will be a light brown Ford Crown Victoria car with driver's ed signs on the front and sides. Thank you for helping us make meal delivery as safe as possible for everyone involved.

FFA members, parents, and FFA supporters: This came from the State FFA Executive Secretary The Governor issued an Executive Order 2020-08 declaring an emergency caused by the impending threat of COVID-19 to the people of this State and the public’s peace, health, and safety. To ensure we are being proactive to address this impending threat, tough decisions are having to be made everywhere, and the same goes for us in the FFA world. No easy way to break the news. So, let’s just get to it: State FFA Interscholastics for all non-national qualifying CDE/LDE events for 2020 will be canceled. This includes the following: • Agricultural Education • Animal Science Quiz Bowl • Electricity • Entomology • Freshman Agriscience Quiz Bowl • Homesite Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Land Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Soil and Water Conservation • Rangeland Judging (National Contest Canceled) • Turfgrass Management The rest of the contests are postponed and will remain pending. This includes all region, area and state public speaking, parliamentary procedure, agriscience fair, and star contests. None of these events will happen in-person until after the Center for Disease Control guidelines allow. We are evaluating the ability to conduct these virtually, where applicable. More details to follow. Now on to convention. In accordance with the CDC guidelines the determination has been made to cancel the annual state FFA convention on the original dates of April 28-29. We are currently in the process of looking into the possibility of a pared-down event at the Cox Convention Center or another venue in late May or early June. Obviously, many variables will go into making the decision on whether that happens. If we are unable to hold an event in the summer, we will elect state officers digitally and pass out awards at agricultural instructors’ area meetings. Planning a convention of this size and scope requires a lot of planning with hotels, presenters, and staff. Many who require deposits well in advance. In the event of a complete cancelation, we will refund when and where we can. We will start with reimbursing all Expo Booth exhibitors immediately. The State Board of Education voted March 16 for all accredited public schools to cease operations to include all instructional services, grading and extracurricular activities, staff development, trainings or conferences, but essential clerical and administrative activities such as business management, nutrition services, maintenance may continue. Please be sure that during this time that your chapter is neither hosting nor attending an extracurricular event unless approved by your local administration. This is a difficult letter to write. I am devastated for the state officer team and FFA members across the state, who I know have put in months of preparation and intense work. But the safety and security of students, educators and staff is a top priority. Difficult times for all. Thanks in advance for your patience and understanding. Keep your heads up, and press on.

As per state board of education, we will have no meeting of teachers of any kind until April 6th. For the next 10 school days, you cannot gather for professional development, staff meetings, Etc. All administrators, secretaries, custodians, building and grounds maintenance, and kitchen staff will meet Monday morning at 8:30 am. We will review our survey numbers to determine what lunches we will provide for students, clean the building and grounds, and discuss our plan of action regarding work hours.

Good afternoon. After watching the press conference with Governor Stitt yesterday and sitting in a webinar with the State Superintendent of Public Instruction today, it is suggested that we do not cancel school unless the Coronavirus spreads through community transmission. Community transmission is defined as "two people in areas of 800,000 have coronavirus that are not connected to travel or through personal contact with a known case." (This is roughly the population of Tulsa.) Please look at our website or at the CDC website and follow the guidelines for travel. It will tell who must self quarantine upon return and places where travel is restricted. If you plan on traveling outside our state or country on spring break, please look at those guidelines carefully. It is still determined that keeping your hands clean, maintaining social distance from others, and the cleaning surfaces with disinfectant are the best ways to prevent the spread of this virus. Thank you for your time and I hope you all have a wonderful spring break!

A little after 1pm today, Governor Stitt, State Superintendent Hoffmeister, the head of the Ok Health Department and a Dr. from the medical Board gave a press conference. You can see it by typing the following in your web browser. rdm.me/MgxoZsf68l They said to continue school and continue working, just use normal precautions such as keeping 6 ft away from others, washing hands regularly, drinking plenty of water and covering sneezes and coughs. You should refrain from shaking hands and other close personal contact. Again, we are upping our efforts to sanitize water fountains, door knobs, restrooms, computers and desks. If your child has a fever, we ask that you keep them home as you would with any other virus. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

It is always our goal to provide a safe and healthy environment at school. With the World Health Organization declaring the COVID-19 "Coronovirus" outbreak a pandemic, Stuart Schools will be increasing our efforts at sanitizing our building and keeping you informed of best practices for prevention of not only the Coronavirus, but also viruses that can be transmitted through personal contact. We do not believe that people should live their lives in fear, but we do believe we should be prepared in the event the worse happens. To protect our students, community, patrons , and our staff, we ask that anyone with flu-like symptoms stay home. We will work with students on absences and have their work ready to make up if they are sick. On our website is the current information ( current at time of print as it changes daily) regarding travel, self-quarantine, and general precautions to take in the event you have been exposed or become exposed. Travel restrictions have been handed down from the White House and the CDC has a list of countries that require self-quarantine if you have been there, Please look at these resources as we have posted them in our DOCUMENTS on our site and we will try to keep you informed on the status of this Pandemic as it relates to our school.

ATTENTION STUART HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS AND PARENTS!!! Here are some dates to know since my Senior babies tend to forget to bring home information! Lol. Tuesday October 8: Josten’s rep will be here to measure for cap & gowns and give information on announcements if you would like to purchase them through them. Wednesday October 9: We will be loading up the kiddos on the bus and taking them for Senior Panel pics. They will need to bring $ (I will post the amount got the sitting fee as soon as I get confirmation Mark Emmons) for their sitting fee and money for a quick lunch before we come back to school. October 14: Money for cap & gown due as well as any deposit you owe for announcements if you order them Also! Our Carnival booths this year will be the Bingo and Cake Walk. Seniors will need to bring 2-3 baked good apiece for the cake walk and we need to be getting donations gathered for Bingo! I also let the kiddos know what they owed in class dues money today. If you have any questions about the amount please feel free to call me at school or message me here! Please feel free to tag and share just in case all of the parents can’t see this! ❤️ - Ms. Way (LaVarnway)
